Green Cleaning vs Traditional Cleaning

Green Cleaning is a technique in which all products used contain biodegradable ingredients. The purpose of using more conservational products is to protect one’s wellbeing and the Earth’s conditions. Unlike traditional cleaning products, green cleaning products tend to be made of natural ingredients such as purified water, lactic acid, citric acid, and enzymes. Other household products used, such as baking soda and vinegar, are nontoxic and eco-friendly.

Traditional Cleaning products are tremendously hazardous to not only human health, but to our planet as well. Traditional cleaning products are full of dangerous toxins, like carcinogens and endocrine disruptors, and can potentially activate health issues such as asthma or allergic reactions.

Even though using environmentally friendly products sounds like the obvious best option, many will choose the traditional route due to the fact that green products cannot have disinfectant in them.  Therefore, green cleaning may not be the best option for those who are looking to exterminate germs.

Green versus traditional cleaning methods is not just limited to the product that is being used, but also depends on the way in which the product is being utilized. For example, when traditionally cleaning, one would use a feather duster to eliminate dust particles. This dust will settle back onto the surface while simultaneously become airborne. Not only does this method of cleaning generate breathing disorders, but it also does not effectively remove the dust.  On the contrary, if one was to use the green cleaning method, they would replace the feather duster with a microfiber cloth. Doing this ensures that the dust particles will become trapped onto the cloth, guaranteeing that the air and surface will be dust free.

Overall, the green cleaning method is a more eco-friendly technique that helps protect the Earth and those who use the products.  Traditional cleaning products contain many harmful chemicals; however, they are better disinfectants than green cleaning products.
